About the Project
A brand agency? For custom home contractors? Why?
If you’ve ever listened to John Lee Dumas “Entrepreneurs On Fire” or followed along on Gary Vaynerchuk’s journey of building a multi-million dollar agency in New York City, you’ve more than likely have heard them talk about going “one inch wide and one mile deep.” The statement is in reference to building a brand that specializes in a very niche market and is the industry leader in that arena.
I started HATTFORD with this in mind.
HATTFORD services custom home contractors and developers who specialize in building $1 – $10 million custom homes, estates and mansions. Or as we like to say, “we are a brand agency that works with $10 – $100 million contractors.” While researching the market during our brand overhaul for Cotton Construction Inc., I noticed that the majority of top-tier contractors built “Château Lafite” homes but their websites screamed “two-buck-chuck” quality.
My Role
It takes a fantastic team to make anything of this scale successful, let’s make sure that that is stated first. My role on this project was to oversee the brand vision, development and implementation of HATTFORD. We wanted HATTFORD to emulate the luxury quality that our contractors are producing out in their industries. From font choice to our color palettes, we intentionally focused on integrating “luxury” into everything that is HATTFORD.
Key Challenge
Our biggest challenge was building a luxury styled website that also looked beautiful on mobile. Around 77% of all website traffic is coming from mobile phones and we wanted to make sure that design accommodated our online customers.
