About the Project
Milan, Italy… fantastic food, fantastic wine and a fantastic shoot. I was hired on again as a Director and Creative Director for PayPal, but this time to capture the story of Umberto, a Senior Sales Associate in Milan. While I wasn’t able to be present in Milan, during the shoot I was able to Skype in and still conduct the interview from across the “pond.”
My Role
Just like my previous gig with PayPal, I was hired on as the Director and Creative Director. We had a great crew on board on-site in the Milan offices and we’re excited to see the final piece once it’s made public (still in the edit phase).
For the Creative Director role, my task is to oversee all aspects of the creative direction and flow of the storyline within the edit. Even though we’re still in the edit phase, everything is coming together nicely and I know PayPal will be thrilled to see this story as well.
Key Challenge
Our biggest challenge had nothing to do with the shoot itself, but with myself having to direct Umberto from a laptop. While technology can at random times cause issues on shoots like this, we were able to work through the oddity of myself speaking from Skype to give advice, pointers and suggestions during the interview. Umberto was a champ and was about to clearly present his story with working with a major grocery chain in Italy.
Within a couple hours, Umberto’s story was captured and we were even able to reenacted several b-roll shots of him interacting with co-workers and conversing with his clients.
